Growing a healthier Australia

The Australian Fresh Produce Alliance is the first choice industry body that retailers and government go to for discussion and outcomes on issues involving the growing and supply of fresh fruit and vegetables. The Australian Fresh Produce Alliance (AFPA) is made up of Australia’s key fresh produce growers and suppliers.

Veronica Papacosta appointed as new CEO of the Australian Fresh Produce Alliance 1 January 2026 - The AFPA today announced the appointment of Veronica Papacosta as its new Chief Executive Officer, commencing in January 2026. Veronica will replace Claire McClelland, who has worked with the AFPA since 2019, and in the role of CEO since 2022.
Market Access for Australian Apples to China a Major Win for Horticulture Sector 28 April 2025 - The AFPA has welcomed the announcement of new market access for Australian apples to China, marking another significant step forward in strengthening Australia’s horticulture trade.
Binned Biosecurity Levy a win for fresh produce growers 12 February 2025 - The AFPA welcomes the Government’s decision to discharge the Biosecurity Protection Levy legislation today, confirming that growers will not pay further levies towards Australia’s biosecurity system.

AFPA Members

These businesses represent half the industry turnover of the Australian fresh produce (fruit and vegetables) sector - $4.5 billion of the $9.1 billion total; 1,000 plus growers through commercial arrangements and more than 20,000 direct employees through peak harvest and up to 25,000 in the grower network.
